Luca Guadagnino’s Suspiria

There is a sense of tension and anticipation around any film remake, especially when the original is well known and received. So is the case with Luca Guadagnino’s version of his countryman, Dario Argento’s cult horror, Suspiria (1977). There has been intense online debate about the movie from the moment the first poster for the remake hit social media earlier this year. Speculation has increased with every subsequent image, casting decision, and trailer.

My review of Guadagnino’s remake of Suspiria can be read in full here at the Australian Review of Books Arts Update.

  1. a film that does not cease to amaze.

fyi, andrew…and a completely off topic…have you read LEE MARVIN POINT BLANK biography by Dwayne Epstein.

    hope you are well.

    • How are you stranger. I assume you closed all your social media accounts and I have wondered where you have got to. Yeah, I am doing okay. Yourself? Yes, I have read LEE MARVIN POINT BLANK, I think it is good but suffered from being too close to his family. Hard for him to avoid, given Epstein needed the family for so much of his information, and it is still a good book, but I think it avoids going deep on some of the harder, more complicated aspects of Marvin’s character. Have you read it?
      Cheers,
      Andrew

  2. Just finished it. Clunky, but I did gain some insight into the man.
I eighty-sixed the SM and have been keeping a low profile.
As you may imagine, it’s a daily struggle to not go fucking bananas these days.
    Stay groovy.
